Title: Burgers
Post by: Barman on June 04, 2012, 11:00:33 PM
Need some good alternatives here...

I'm stuck in a rut.  I keep adding horseradish and worcestershire sauce, along with chopped onions, to the ground beef.  It is delectible but what are some other options?

Thanks, I'll hang up and listen.

Along with your usual, try adding a little italian sausage, diced jalapenos(pickled), and a touch of fresh minced garlic to the mixture. Sometimes I'll even add some dry bread crumbs (Mom used to do this to make it go further, I do it to remember Her). Also, when you flip them brush with melted unsalted butter. Top with a good thick slice of sharp cheddar and allow to rest until the cheese is melted.
Makes for a nice change of pace for me & mine once in a while. :punk:

These are very good ideas.   Right now, I use grated onion and minced jalapeno for most of mine, though I sometimes do a Simon and Garfunkel burger--  a third of a cup of olive oil, with a tablespoon each of parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme.    Coat the burgers and let them sit an hour, before grilling.

I've done mine similar to meatloaf: add a couple of eggs and some bread crumbs/crackers to the mix along with some minced garlic.  Pretty good change from normal burgers.

Yep, good stuff.

Another idea - dump a ranch packet up in that meat.

a 20th sausage added to beef.  I also like to throw in some garlic.  I had a burger in CO that was half ground beef, half ground bacon.

Some of the best burgers I've ever had was when I soaked the beef patties in south Ark. bbq sause overnight. The sauce is a thin, vinegar/mustard/catchup mix that allows me to experience SE Ark. here in Bavaria every weekend.

1 bottle catchup
Same amount of vinegar
Same amount of water
1/3 bottle Worcester sauce
4 TS mustard
2 TS honey
salt
black pepper
cayanne pepper, depending on how hot you want it

optional: pressed fresh garlic, dash soy sauce, cajun seaoning instead of salt and pepper.

Enjoy!

Heat on stove until almost boiling, then allow to cool.

Shaggy, are you dispensing baby batter burgers now?   No wonder Slack is salivating.

Cook burger from desired way above then top with chili, pepper-jack cheese, and bacon.

Then pray your arteries don't clog.

Similar to Erie's
I use jalepeno slices and small diced pepper jack cheese mixed with the meat. Sometimes I chop some bacon and cook in a skillet first then mix with the meat.
