Nothing official just yet but all signs point to him being the guy.

I was really high on him while he was at Clemson and honestly his first few years at SMU probably hurt his stock a little but this season he got them back into a bowl and won 7 games.  Which is tied with June Jones for most wins in a regular season since they receive the death penalty in 1984.

He has ridiculous ties to East Texas and the DFW area which is something that we have been missing since the Nutt era.

He is going to go after Clemson DC Brent Venables, he won't get him to come here but at least he's making a statement that once we bring him in he is going after a top tier DC to join him.

14-22 at SMU is going to scare some people off but he's brought them out of a 1-11 hole when he was hired.

He was named Texas HS Coach of the Year 11 times.  I'm going to give him a shot, I think he'll be a great fit as long as he can assemble a good defensive staff and I believe he will.

I kept hearing it all day yesterday too.  And I haven't been able to find anything concrete, but I agree that all signs are pointing his way.  It would be a huge home run IF he were able to get Venables to join him.

That would be insane and would quiet down the folks who are unimpressed by the Morris hire I would assume.

I'm a bit skeptical to say the least, that he would be able to get Brent to come here but I'm well aware that they are friends and have extensive ties.

Venables left Oklahoma and a power house to go to Clemson and coach with Chad.  Could be happening again.  He is making 1.7 now as a DC but some folks are reporting that we're offering 2.5 to get him here and Chad's deal is worth 3.75

That is totally doable and could be legit.

Even if he can't get Venables to come join him, we know that the brass is finally willing to pony up big money for a DC and we will land a top tier DC this time around, one way or another.

All that would still be cheaper than we were willing to pay for Gus.... and we'd have a defense too.  twisted

Off to a good start after the first weekend.  This coming weekend, 12/15 - 12/17 is going to be one that has a pile of visitors and could result in a few more commitments.  Early signing period is next week 12/20 - 12/22.

Gonna take at least 3 years. Wouldn't be too surprised if we have a similar year next year. Dude is a recruiting machine. If he can hold this class together and put a few more in the fold after it, watch out.

The only thing that has gone down in America over the last two years is the value of your home. This president has mismanaged this economy. Everything I've been reading is that a lot of the players were lazy like the old coach
